Single stream recycling allows you to place all the accepted recyclable materials (paper, cardboard, plastic, pop cans) into one bin. We handle the sorting and processing, which makes recycling easier and more convenient for everyone.

Summit Recycling accepts most household recyclables, including clean paper, cardboard, #1 and #2 plastic bottles and containers, aluminum cans, and tin cans. A full materials list is available above or on your membership flyer.

Please don't try to recycle plastic bags, glass, pill bottles, shredded paper, food waste like pizza boxes, paper milk containers, styrofoam, electronics, batteries, and hazardous materials. These items cause contamination and can damage equipment.

Yes, please. Lightly rinsing your tin cans and paper containers helps reduce contamination and keeps the recyclables clean for processing. They don't really need to be spotless, just free of food residue.

Your materials are transported to our sorting facility in uptown Butte, where our equipment separates them by type. From there, our workers and equipment process your recyclables by removing any prohibited material, bale it and ship it to recycling mills in Washington and Oregon, where the material is sorted and sold to manufacturers to make new products.
